Concerning the 6 month training period once you get to Fairchild, does anybody know if you are allowed to see your family at all during that time? Is it 6 months straight of no contact, or is there some time in between training weeks? Thanks in advance.

First thing is, there is more than 6 months of training that you have to do. There is 1 week of in processing, then 3-5 weeks of prerequisites that you have to take. Once you complete that, you then start pre team, and will be with them until you team starts ( usually 3 to 6 months). During that time, your schedule will be more predictable and more relaxed. You will not be able to leave a 50 mile radius of Fairchild without being on leave though. Only exception is Coeur d'Alene. If you're married, you can go back and move your family here. If you are single, you have to stay in the Fairchild area. Your family will be able to come up on weekends and days off. You actually have a lot of time on pre team. Once you start team (which is the 6 months of training you are talking about), you will not have time.
