I'm interested in becoming a SERE specialist but am curious what career field you get put into if you don't pass the SERE training? I'm confident in my ability to do anything required of me, but considering the high rate of failure I just want to be sure I don't get totally shafted and stuck with a job where I'll be miserable and my skills wasted if I happen to be among those who don't cut it in SERE.

There's no way of knowing for sure. If not selected, some get reclassed, and some get released from the AF. If reclassed, there isn't a "typical" job that folks get reclassed into. All comes down to timing of available jobs.
Don't be so down on other jobs... I know a few folks who didn't get a job even remotely close to what they wanted, but they are making the best of it. There are benefits and life experience to be gained no matter where you are or what you are doing.
