To Whom Can Help Me,
I am leaving for Basic Training on May 10th. I signed a contract for SERE and will attend SERE training starting in July. I am very curious about the 9 day course following Basic Training. From what I have been reading, it is a selection course. But if I signed a contract, how does it affect me? Is this sort of a "tryout"? I am just trying to figure out whether I will actually have the opportunity to start training, or what? Also what can I do now besides running, working out etc, to really give myself an advantage in SERE? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

He's already left for BMT, but for others' reference:
Selection is now three M-F weeks, and will start shortly after BMT. You need to pass selection to progress to Fairchild AFB for further training. If not selected you would either be re-classed or released from the AF.
Preparation has been addressed in other posts, but don't over-complicate it. Stay healthy, eat right, be active. Try out crossfit if you can. Be ready to work hard and adapt to challenging tasks. Learn to embrace suck.
