I'm currently an AF DEPr with a few questions that I hope you can help me with. What initially drew me to the AF was the CCT careerfield and I have been training/preparing for that for several months. I found recently that my waiver request for vision is likely to be denied so I need to start looking for other options. CCT is still my end goal so I want to pursue AFSCs that lead to CCT, mainly TACP/SERE/ATC. SERE is the only AFSC that I could see actually making a career out of so it is my first choice of the three.
Questions-
I know few people choose to crosstrain out of SERE, but has it been done recently?
Does going SERE put you on the fast-track for corrective eye surgery?
How much control do specialists have over being able to go to pipeline schools (HALO, Dive?) And is attending those schools during the initial enlistment likely/possible?
If I enlist for 4 year active, does the 24-month retraining window start once I ship to basic or once I complete SERE training and become operational?
I know many of these questions are highly subjective, but any guidance you can give is much appreciated.
