Hello all. This is meant mainly for any SERE specialists out there. I'm prior service Army E4 19D Cav Scout, Airborne Qualified, deployment to Afghanistan 2012-2013 Honorable discharge RE code 1. I'm 36 years old and looking to enlist Active but I have tattoos, so if I can't I would like to go in the reserves/guard as a SERE specialist. So my questions :
1. Tattoo policy for active and reserve? From what I understand, for active duty anyway, to measure arm tattoos you measure 1" above your wrist, to the tip of you extended middle finger. That"s your measurement. My tattoos are on my forearm. One on top, one on the bottom. None are bigger than said measurement, but a person on a live chat, said they'll measure the size of the 2 tattoos as one and put it towards the measurement. For me its 8" and tattoos measure to 11" as 1. Can anyone validate this? Is this how they approve tattoos, or is there a waiver? They are not offensive, they're patriotic. 2. Is SERE in the Guard or Reserves? 3. I'm in Lexington Kentucky. I know there's an Air Guard unit in Louisville, do they have a SERE unit? If not where's the closest? 4. Is the selection and school the same as the active guys, same location and all, or are they separate. 5. During any of the schooling, can my wife be there?
Thanks everyone, any info is greatly appreciated !!
