Ive become interested in SERE and have a little over a year before I can crosstrain. I have some questions involving the process. I'm assuming you have to sign a new contract extending your time in service. Is this 2 years, 4, 6? I would have no problem with this of course, except if I was to fail out. I don't like thinking like that but its obviously a tough course. Would I have to go back to my job I have now for those extra 2,4,6 years or is the contract "voided"?? I love the Air Force but the job I have now is really just not for me. I'm trying to find the best way for me to basically be happy with what I'm doing. Another scenario I came up with was do my 4 years and then maybe try to get a SERE Reserve job. Would this be possible at all? Would I be disqualified for being prior service that got out? Or if I did get a contract for SERE Reserve and failed would they stick me with some filler reserve job? I appreciate any responses. This site is awesome and I enjoy reading the forums every chance I get. I'm stationed at Hurlburt Field if anyone on here is stationed there as well...maybe we could meet up and chat. Thank you
